Borussia Dortmund suffered an embarrassing 4-2 defeat at the hands of bottom side Holstein Kiel last week. Before a 2-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt in their latest game, leading to speculation that the 36-year-old could be sacked. 

However, both BVB executives Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl have insisted. They still have full trust in Šahin and that the 36-year-old’s job remains safe at this time. 

‘The argument is about form and results. I don’t need confirmation every three days that I’m going to stay. I know how the business works.’

‘We know what the situation is, we know the situation. But I need someone to sit and cry for God, I know what I’m doing,’ Shahin said.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that. The 36-year-old will be in charge for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Bologna. And it would make little sense to part ways with Šahin during the current busy schedule. But a move could be made after the trip to Heidenheim on February 1 after the conclusion of their Champions League campaign.
